Starting from September 1, 2020, the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution Caused by Solid Waste" (hereinafter referred to as the "New Solid Waste Law") will be officially implemented. In order to strengthen interpretation and publicity, enhance technical exchanges between Chinese and foreign enterprises in the field of solid waste disposal and reduction, and promote the construction of a beautiful Jiangsu from a high starting point, the Enterprise Solid Waste Disposal and Reduction Exchange Symposium hosted by the Jiangsu Environmental Economy and Technology International Cooperation Center was held in Suzhou on August 26th. At the symposium, Shell (China) Co., Ltd. and Kimberly Clark (China) Co., Ltd., which have rich experience in the waste reduction industry, shared hazardous waste disposal technologies and enterprise waste reduction plans, and discussed and exchanged the problems and focuses in the current solid waste pollution prevention and control work.
On September 1st, the new solid waste law will be implemented soon. On site, Lu Weiming, Deputy Director of the Enforcement Bureau of Suzhou Ecological Environment Bureau, interpreted the regulations and policies on solid waste pollution prevention and control. From the perspective of the basic management system for solid waste, he introduced the environmental impact assessment system, "three simultaneities" system, storage process, transfer process, licensing and qualification system involved in solid waste disposal. At the same time, he also compared the differences between the new and old solid waste laws, and provided the attending companies with valuable insights and key points from the policies and regulations. And it is emphasized that since the implementation of the new Solid Waste Law, enterprises and institutions should reasonably choose and utilize raw materials, energy and other resources, adopt advanced production processes, reduce the amount of industrial solid waste generated, and reduce the harm of industrial solid waste.
